In observance of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marked annually on 25 November, the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center “Aman,” part of the Qatar Social Work Foundation, convened an interactive forum titled “A Safe Environment… A Strong Family”.

The interactive forum was attended by a distinguished group of social, psychological, and legal experts, alongside several influential women figures in Qatari society. The event also featured participation from specialists in social protection—particularly those focusing on women’s issues—as well as representatives from diverse sectors of society with a vested interest in the topic.

This observance aims to further the vision, mission, and strategic objectives of the Aman Center in delivering social protection and rehabilitation services. It seeks to raise awareness and promote education on women-related social issues, with a view to reducing violence and family disintegration, equipping women with new skills, providing mental-health support to help them address emerging challenges, and fostering the exchange of knowledge and expertise in areas related to social protection.

In this regard, Mr. Fadl Al-Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), highlighted the Center’s ongoing dedication to convening interactive forums to shed light on social protection issues affecting Aman’s target groups—namely women, children, and victims of family disintegration caused by violence—and to develop recommendations aimed at enhancing the status of women in society. He stressed that the Aman Center’s core mission is to provide social protection for women, children, and victims of family breakdown due to violence, and to ensure their reintegration into society.

Mr. Al-Kaabi further explained the principal themes addressed in the forum, noting that it would focus on two core areas: the first concerning family security and the role of international institutions; and the second relating to legal and societal solidarity in safeguarding women from violence.

Ms. Bakhita Al-Ghayathin, Director of the Community Awareness Department at the Aman Center, underscored the imperative of convening such interactive forums to deliberate on matters concerning women, approaching these issues from psychological, legal, and social perspectives, while fostering innovation in devising optimal solutions and best practices to effectively address any challenges that may emerge.

Ms. Hanan Al-Ali, Director of the Communications and Media Office at the Aman Center, likewise emphasized the Center’s commitment to commemorating both local and international observances relevant to its mandate. She noted that this event serves to highlight the Center’s role and areas of competence in providing social protection and rehabilitation to its target groups—women and children who are victims of violence and family disintegration—while also supporting women by offering social, psychological, and legal counselling, and by organizing rehabilitative programs, activities, and awareness campaigns that contribute to empowering them to confront any form of violence they may encounter.

The forum was attended by more than 150 participants from various fields and sectors within the State, and notable engagement was observed through the questions posed by attendees to the speakers.

It is noteworthy that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) is participating in a series of events and awareness campaigns held concurrently with the “16-Day Campaign,” an initiative consisting of sixteen days of activities culminating on International Human Rights Day (10 December). In this context, Aman organized the interactive forum and allocated an awareness and informational booth in several locations across the State, in addition to preparing a digital awareness campaign on the Center’s social media platforms through the publication of various awareness-raising video messages.

The 2025 campaign is being conducted under the theme “Unite to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls.”
